The 2020 Acura #6 Team Penske ARX-05 DPi - abbreviated as "Acura #6 ARX-05" - is a DPi sports prototype by Acura.

It appears in Forza Motorsport (2023).

Synopsis[]

Based on the Oreca 07 chassis, the ARX-05 was developed in partnership with Honda Performance Development and Oreca for the Daytona Prototype International (DPi) class in the IMSA Sportscar Championship. It features an Acura 3.5L AR35TT twin-turbocharged V6 engine alongside a 6-speed sequential manual transmission.[1]

The #6 car, along with its #7 sibling would make their debut in the 2018 season, piloted by Dane Cameron, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Simon Pagenaud (24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and Petit Le Mans only). The #6 would end up being the better of the two cars overall, finishing 5th in the teams' and drivers' championships, with the team finishing 2nd to Cadillac in the manufacturers' championship, however the #7 achieved the first win for the car (and only one for the season) at Mid-Ohio.[2]

The 2019 season began a short reign of dominance, with Team Penske sweeping all three championships and the #6 winning both the driver's and team's championships thanks to 3 wins, including another win for the team at Mid-Ohio.[3] While Penske swept all three championships again in 2020, the #6 finished 6th in the driver's championship and 7th in the team's championship, while its sister car won both championships thanks in part to 4 wins (including a 3rd straight win at Mid-Ohio) and a 2nd place finish.[4] After this season, Penske and Honda Performance Development ended their partnership, with Wayne Taylor Racing taking one of the cars and Meyer Shank Racing taking the other.
