"Some cars look cool. Some cars drive cool. Other cars simply have a really cool name. The 1970 Alfa Romeo Montreal nailed all three with aplomb. The first production version of “The Montreal”, as it’s known, was introduced at the 1970 Geneva Auto Show and wowed audiences with bold design choices like horizontal slats positioned behind doors, a triangular NACA duct on the hood, and four headlamps that were partially covered by a grille that retracted when the lights were engaged. The Montreal’s V8 pumped out around 200 hp and could propel the car at a top speed of more than 135 mph. It’s a classic returned to pristine form in Forza 4 and, yes, it’s seriously cool."
—Official description[1]

The 1970 Alfa Romeo Montreal - abbreviated as "Alfa Montreal" - is a rear-wheel drive sports car by Alfa Romeo.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the January Jalopnik Pack, and in Forza Motorsport 7.

Synopsis[]

The Alfa Romeo Montreal was shown as a concept car during Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada, and was captured public imagination with futuristic designs, leading to a nickname “Montreal”. The Production begin at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show and remain in Production until 1977. It was design by Marcello Gandini of Bertone in an impressive short timeframe and produced as a 2-door 2+2 coupé. The car shares its chassis and running gear with the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTV, but features a unique fastback body and styling cues like the hood-mounted NACA duct and partially covered front headlamps.

The Production was limited, with around 3,900 units built. The process involved Alfa Romeo manufacturing the chassis and mechanical components, which were sent to Bertone in Caselle for body fitment and to Grugliasco for final painting and interior installation. The completed car returned to Alfa Romeo for final assembly, including the installation of the engine and drivetrain. This meticulous process, while producing high-quality finishes, contributed to its high cost, making it more expensive than contemporaries such as the Jaguar E-Type or Porsche 911.

The Montreal is powered by a 2.6-liter 90° V8 engine derived from the Tipo 33 racing car, equipped with SPICA mechanical fuel injection and a dry-sump lubrication system. This engine delivers around 200 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 173 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm, mated to a ZF 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential.

Performance figures include a 0–60 mph time of roughly 7.4–7.6 seconds and a top speed around 138 mph (222 km/h). The car features double wishbone front suspension and a live rear axle, set up for long-distance high-speed driving rather than tight handling
