"It’s a tribute to the extreme road prowess of the DB9 road car that the DBR9 racer can utilize any parts at all for racing duty—the robust aluminum chassis and stout engine’s block and heads carry over with only some modification for track duty. However, beyond that, the DBR9 is all business, from the special carbon fiber bodypanels that resemble the road car but are optimized for track duty, to the race-specific transmission, suspension, and safety equipment. The engine’s power figures are not well-known outside of Aston Martin’s racing divisions, but all signs point to an output north of 600 horsepower, so performance is about how you would imagine—blisteringly quick. This chassis, wearing #009, took the GT1 class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007."
—Official description[1]

The 2006 Aston Martin #007 Aston Martin Racing DBR9 is a GT1 race car by Aston Martin.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 3 and all subsequent Motorsport series titles up to Forza Motorsport 7.

Synopsis[]

The DBR9, with a name that pays homage to the Le Mans winning DBR1, is a race car developed by Prodrive that competed in the GT1 endurance category from 2005 until its demise in 2011. Derived from the DB9, the only common elements between the two cars is the chassis, engine block and cylinder heads, with the race car now having a body constructed from carbon fiber to save weight and a completely flat bottom to help with aerodynamics.[2]

The #007 (chassis DBR9/3) and the #009 (chassis DBR9/8) competed together in the 2006 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) season. Piloted by Darren Turner, Tomáš Enge, and Nicolas Kiesa (12 Hours of Sebring only), the #007 car won twice, while the #009, driven by Stéphane Sarrazin, Pedro Lamy, and Jason Bright (Sebring only) won 3 times, however the team would lose out on the GT1 title to Corvette Racing's C6.Rs by 3 points.[3]

The #007 would also compete at Le Mans that year, with the two season-long ALMS drivers joined by Andrea Piccini. The car would be the fastest in class in both qualifying sessions but would once again miss out on the class win thanks to a C6.R.[4] The chassis would make one last appearance at the 2007 edition of Le Mans, now marked as the #008 and run by Larbre Compétition. It qualified first in class again, but would finish 3rd in class, only two laps behind the class winner, another DBR9.[5]
