"The Aston Martin brand was founded on motorsport when Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford began racing specials at Aston Hill near Aston Clinton in 1913. Since then, the manufacturer has competed in and won countless races. Aston Martin Racing has won more than fifty races since returning to competition in 2004. Those wins have come across all classes they have competed in, with a high point being a win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in GTE-AM in 2017. The team went on to win the FIA-WEC GTE-AM class title in 2017 as well. Danish driver Christina Nielsen raced the #7 TRG-Aston Martin Racing V12 Vantage in the GTA class in World Challenge in its Royal Purple/Orion livery. She is just one of the drivers that continue to make this prestigious brand respected both on the track and off."
—Official description[1]

The 2017 Aston Martin #7 Aston Martin Racing V12 Vantage GT3 - abbreviated as "#7 Aston GT3" or "AM #7 Vantage"[2] - is a GT3 race car by Aston Martin.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 7 as part of the Dell Gaming Car Pack and in Forza Motorsport (2023).

Synopsis[]

The replacement for the DBRS9, which was the cheaper alternative to the Aston Martin DBR9, the V12 Vantage GT3 is based on the first generation V12 Vantage. Retaining the same V12, the engine has been beefed up to now make 600 hp (447 kW) and 516 ft·lb (700 N·m) of torque and has been repositioned in the engine bay to optimize weight distribution.[3] It was replaced by the GT3 version of the second generation Vantage in 2019.

The livery used by this car most closely resembles the #98 Vantage that competed in the GT Daytona (GTD) class at the 2017 24 Hours of Daytona.[4] Driven by Paul Dalla Lana, Pedro Lamy, Mathias Lauda, and Marco Sørensen, the car qualified 3rd in class, but finished the race outside the top 10 in 12th.[5]

Trivia[]

  • As noted in the synopsis, the car never competed with this exact livery and number combo. The #98 has a very similar livery, but there are some slight discrepancies, like the orange lines on the hood of the #98 diverting to the headlights instead of continuing straight to the grille. A #007 car did compete in a round each of both the IMSA SportsCar Championship and the Pirelli World Challenge in 2017, but it had a completely different livery[6]
  • In Forza Motorsport (2023), it was classified in the now split-up Forza GT division prior to Update 15.
  • In Forza Motorsport (2023), prior to Update 21, it was valued at 311,000 CR.
