"The V8 Vantage feels like nothing so much as the world's nicest Mustang, a polished piece of just-right British excellence with an American heart. (It has a small-block grumble and a crystal starter button. Is that cool, or what?) The V-12 car replaces the V-8 with the glass-smooth double six from Aston's DB9 and DBS. The finished product sports 510 hp, 420 lb-ft of torque, and a very large, very hairy can of Britain Is Coming To Break Your Face. This is what an Aston should be."—jalopnik.com[1]
The 2010 Aston Martin V12 Vantage is a sports car that appears in Forza Motorsport 3 as part of the Jalopnik Car Pack and in Forza Motorsport 4.
The V12 Vantage is a more powerful variant of the V8 Vantage, a two-seater sports car priced below Aston Martin's four seater DB series. As the V12 model was designed to compete against high-performance sports cars, it is equipped with the engine from the Aston Martin DBS.
In 2011, a special model - known as the V12 Zagato - was introduced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the DB4 Zagato. In 2014, the V12 Vantage was replaced by the more powerful V12 Vantage S.
Characteristics[]
The V12 Vantage is based on Aston Martin's modular VH platform, which was also used for developing the company's larger four-seater models and thus made it possible to fit a large engine into the compact Vantage platform.[2] Thanks in part by having the engine placed behind the front axle, the V12 Vantage has an almost neutral weight distribution on its chassis.
Its 5.9L (5,935 cc) V12 engine remains mostly unchanged from the DBS as it offers 511 hp (381 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 420 ft·lb (570 N·m) of torque at 5,750 rpm. Combined with a relatively low weight of 3704 lb (1680 kg), the V12 Vantage accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and tops out at 200 mph (322 km/h), which makes it hardly slower than the DBS whilst being also more nimble.[3]
