The 2018 Audi #44 R8 LMS GT3 - abbreviated as "Audi #44 R8 LMS" - is a GT3 race car by Audi.
It appears in Forza Motorsport (2023) as part of the Race Day Car Pack.
Synopsis[]
The R8 LMS GT3 is a race car based on the second generation Audi R8 and is the successor to the Audi R8 LMS Ultra. It was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.[1] It features an upgraded V10 engine, rear-wheel drive and a lighter chassis than its road-going counterpart. The car began competition in 2015, receiving upgraded versions in 2019 with the R8 LMS GT3 Evo and in 2021 with the R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.[2]
The #36, belonging to the Magnus Racing team, competed in the GT Daytona (GTD) class during the 2018 IMSA SportsCar Championship season. The main drivers of the car were Andy Lally and John Potter, with Andrew Davis joining for the 4 endurance rounds during the season and Marcus Winkelhock joining the trio for the season opening 24 Hours of Daytona.[3] The best result for the car in those endurance rounds would be a 6th place in class at Daytona, while in the non-endurance rounds, the car would manage to get on the class podium twice, with a 3rd place at Canadian Motorsport Park and a 2nd place at Lime Rock Park. Lally and Potter would manage to finish 8th overall in the drivers' championship, while the car would finish one position better in the team's championship, with both placements being the best out of non-race winning teams in the GTD class.[4]
