The 2014 BAC Mono is an ultralight sports car by BAC featured in Forza Motorsport 6 and all subsequent main series titles.
Unlock in Forza Horizon 4
It is primarily unlockable via the Autoshow, but has also been made available as a seasonal reward:
- Seasonal Championship reward - Series 17 Autumn Season
Synopsis
The Mono was designed by Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) along with several automobile engineering companies including Cosworth. It is an ultralight single-seater car powered by a 280 hp (209 kW) Duratec engine that allows it to reach 173 mph (278 km/h) as top speed, making it the second fastest road-legal track car after the Ariel Atom 500 V8.
The Mono was built using a carbon fiber foam sandwich composite over a tubular steel chassis with FIA compliant safety features and weighs 1354 lb (614 kg). It has a centrally located driving position with a longitudinally mounted engine sitting behind, resulting in a 48% front weight percentage. Its suspension design consists of pushrod-actuated wishbones on both axles and is fully adjustable.[2]
The 2,300 cc inline-four Duratec engine has a compression ratio of 13.1:1 and produces 280 hp (209 kW) at 7700 rpm as well as 206 ft·lb (280 N·m) of torque at 6000 rpm.[3]
Performance
The Mono can perform a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) launch in only 2.8 seconds which makes it the quickest launching road-legal track toy car in the Forza series. It requires an equally impressive 6.7 seconds when accelerating to 100 mph (161 km/h) and reaches 174 mph (280 km/h) as top speed.
It has a sharp steering and rigid chassis, allowing it to have forgiving handling characteristics and achieve high lateral acceleration figures. Therefore, it is very useful for handling-demanding tracks where it can outperform most track toy cars and modern supercars.
Special Variants
Horizon Edition
The Horizon Edition variant has been available since the October 14, 2016 update in Forza Horizon 3.
It is available with a Speed Skills boost, HRE RX43 rims, lime green paint, and minor performance alterations. It is obtainable as a Horizon Wheelspin reward and in the Auction House.
The Horizon Edition improves the handling and braking of the Mono, but has somewhat slower acceleration and a reduced top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h). It shares its performance index value with its stock counterpart.
