Synopsis[]
The M Hybrid V8 is a LMDh sports prototype race car built for use in the GTP class in the IMSA series and the FIA World Endurance Championship. Racing since the 2023 season, it ends BMW's 24-year hiatus from sports prototype racing, as their last sports prototype was the BMW V12 LMR in 1999.
It is powered by a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 that is an upgraded version of the engine from the BMW M4 DTM, along with the LMDh standard supplementary electric drive[1].
