"The closest thing to an M8 BMW ever developed will not only knock you back in your seat at almost any speed, it will do so with the style and refinement that only a BMW provides. In 1995 the 850CSi was BMW’s ultimate driving machine. The car came with a 5.6 liter V12, included sleek reshaped bumpers and an improved suspension with electronic enhancements such as stability control. The car’s V12 doled out more than 400 foot-pounds of torque and 372 hp. As part of BMW’s Art Car program, American artist David Hockney created a bold pop art-inspired print design on the 850CSi; making it the fourteenth BMW model to be honored in this way. So as a canvas for design or for delivering stunning performance on the track, this luxury sport tourer is art in motion."—Official description[1]
The 1995 BMW 850CSi is a front-engined sports car by BMW featured in Forza Motorsport 4, 6, 7, and as part of the Rockstar Energy Car Pack for Forza Horizon 2.
Synopsis
The 1995 BMW 850CSi is the highest trim of the first-generation of BMW's 8 series, a new grand tourer introduced in 1989 as a partial replacement for the 6 series. Powered by an upgraded version of the 850i engine (M70B50), the 850CSi's S70B56 engine had a 600cc increase in displacement, along with an extra 80 horsepower and lb⋅ft.[2]
The 850CSi acted as BMW's most powerful production car at the time whilst maintaining a level of luxury matched only by the 7 series, allowing it to become one of the most sought after grand tourers of the era.
Performance
The 1995 BMW 850CSi received a new 5.6 litre (5,576cc) naturally aspirated BMW V12 that makes 371 hp (277 kW), based on the 5.0 litre engine from the 750i and 850i models at the time.
The S70B56 engine produced peak power at 5,300 RPM and peak torque (406 ft·lb (550 N·m)) at 4,000 RPM. The 850CSi was only produced with a six-speed manual transmission, and rear wheel drive, allowing it to achieve a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) time of 5.9 seconds, 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) time of 14. 3 seconds and a top speed of 181 mph (291 km/h).
Forza Edition
The Forza Edition is an upgraded variant that is offered to players at any random point via levelling up. It is featured with a +20% CR credit boost (although the game does not mention this), which is doubled with 3 Good Drifts. The Forza Edition features a widebody kit and a B class performance upgrade.

Trivia
- The 850CSi was the first BMW to use a S70 engine which itself was an M70 engine that had been modified so significantly that BMW engineers gave it a new designation.
- The S70B56 is also the rarest BMW production engine to date with only 1,510 engines produced.[3]
- The S70 series is most notable for the S70/2 engine that was used in the McLaren F1.
- The E31 8 series were the last BMWs to receive popup headlights, a feature only shared with the M1.
- This is one of the only two Forza Edition cars in Forza Motorsport 7 to have a car collector tier of 4, alongside the 1997 Honda Civic Type R Forza Edition
