"This is hallowed ground. One of the truly great racing machines to ever come to Forza, and it is back. The M3-GTR is a product of homologation rules that required BMW to produce road going versions of the V8-powered Le Mans racer up for sale. What you get is not just 375 naturally-aspirated horsepower but a lightened, strengthened, lowered M3 that is the epitome of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It's still one mean looking wooly beast. A standout among even the most modified standard M3s. Front and rear aero, as well as the roof and hood vents and rear fascia are made of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The entire package was derived directly from the racing version and only slightly modified for street use. This is a cherished ride for racing, drifting or whatever comes to mind, and we know you will enjoy every tasty bit of it."—Official description[1]
The 2002 BMW M3-GTR is a RWD sports car featured in all Xbox 360 Forza titles except Forza Horizon 2. It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 as a Unicorn Car and was available in Forza Horizon as part of the April Top Gear Car Pack.
It also appears in Forza Horizon 4 as an 80% completion reward for the Series 7 - Spring Season from April 4, 2019 to April 11, 2019, and will be obtainable again as a Seasonal Championship reward for the Series 11 Autumn Season from July 11, 2019 to July 18, 2019.
Synopsis
The 2002 M3-GTR is the road variant of the M3 GTR race car that was built to satisfy homologation rules by the FIA. Unlike its standard production variant, the M3-GTR came equipped with racing modifications from its competition variant such as a four liter V8 engine and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) body parts.
A total of six units were produced, with three units having been used as development test mules, and the other three having survived as part of BMW Group Classic's collection.[2]
