Synopsis
The 1988 M5 is the first generation of the BMW M5, a series of mid-size sport sedans tuned and produced by BMW M. Using a race-bred six-cylinder engine from the BMW M1 and the versatility of the BMW 5 Series platform, the 1988 M5 combined sports car performance with the utility of everyday cars.
Also known as the E28, the 1988 M5 was hand-built by BMW M from 1984 to 1988.[2] It was replaced by the E34 in Europe within its last model year.
