"As if the Z4’s lines didn’t already work well enough on the street, the Z4 GT3’s be-winged, diffuser-ed, NACA-ducted exterior takes it up a notch. In some ways, the Z4 GT3 represents the perfect front-engine, rear-drive race platform. Its body is partly made from carbon fiber and tightly wrapped over the mechanical package, with the driver’s compartment set well to the rear. Instead of the street version’s inline six, the GT3 gets the 4.4-liter V8 lifted from the M3, which sends 530 horsepower towards the rear tires hunkering under massive fender flares. As you would expect from a BMW designed to be sold to privateer racers, every system is optimized for the track. The Z4 GT3 has already been quite successful, winning the Dubai 24 Hours race outright in early 2011."

The 2010 BMW Z4 GT3 is a GT3 race car by BMW.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 4.

Synopsis[]

Based on the second generation BMW Z4, the Z4 GTE was BMW's first attempt at the Group GT3 regulations. The car is very similar to its GTE counterpart, using the same drivetrain, gearbox and engine (although the GTE has a lower RPM), with most of the differences coming in regard to the aerodynamics. The car uses a double tier wing (compared to the GTE's single tier), winglets on the front fender and a more aggressive rear diffuser.[1] It has a non-production P65 V8 engine with 530 hp (395 kW) that is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. Another highlight of the GT3 is a low curb weight of 2646 lb (1200 kg).[2] The GT3 featured in Motorsport 4 would be used as a show car when it was officially unveiled to the world in March 2010 and would never compete in an actual race.[3]

The Z4 GT3 would make its debut a couple of months later at the opening round of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Silverstone. It would compete in a variety of championships including, but not limited to, the aforementioned GT3 Euro Championship, the Blancpain Endurance Series, and the British GT Championship. The car would take two championships wins (2011 & 2014) in the GT300 class of the Super GT championship, as well as winning the 2015 edition of the 24 Hours of Spa. It would be mostly retired at the end of the 2015 season, being replaced by the M6 GT3 for 2016.
