Brabham is a defunct British car manufacturer featured in Forza Motorsport 5 and all subsequent Motorsport titles. It is also featured in Forza Horizon 5 as a part of the Hot Wheels expansion, which debuted in the Series 10 Update.

Synopsis[]

Brabham is the common name of Motor Racing Developments Ltd., founded in 1960 by Australian Formula One driver Sir Jack Brabham and British-Australian automotive designer Ron Tauranac. The company initially concentrated on building formula cars for lower formulae in its formative years, and first began competing in Formula One in 1962, albeit with a Lotus chassis as Brabham's own Formula One car wasn't ready yet; their car would only be ready midway through the 1962 season.

The team was highly dominant throughout the 1960s, scoring two drivers' and constructors' championships with Jack Brabham and Denny Hulme, along with multiple wins; Jack Brabham's 1966 championship remains the only time a car bearing its creator's name has won the Formula One world championship. Sporadic success came in the years that followed, in addition to two additional constructors' championships; Brabham took their last win at the 1985 French Grand Prix.

By the late 1980s and early 1990s, it had become quite clear that Brabham was no longer the team it once was. The team was struggling to qualify, let alone pre-qualify, for various Formula One races and was also running low on funds, despite having been purchased by Japanese billionaire Koji Nakauchi of the Middlebridge Group in 1989. With Brabham's owners unable to repay against a substantial sum of money provided by a leasing company, Brabham collapsed midway through the 1992 Formula One season. The team earned 35 victories, 120 pole positions, 2 constructors' championships and 4 drivers' titles during their 30 years in the sport.

The current incarnation of the Brabham brand is Brabham Automotive, an Australian low-volume car manufacturer based in Adelaide, Australia was founded by David Brabham, son of Sir Jack Brabham, in 2018 through a partnership with additional investors.

Brabham announced its first car, the Brabham BT62, as part of the company's resurrection.
