The 2013 Chevrolet #1 Andretti Autosport Dallara DW12 is an IndyCar by Chevrolet.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 5.
Synopsis[]
Succeeding the IR-05, the DW12 was built by Dallara to be used as the standard chassis in the IndyCar Series. The car's name departed from Dallara's regular naming conventions due to the death of its test driver, Dan Wheldon, just before its introduction, with the chassis named in his honor. The only major difference between the Chevrolet version of the DW12 and the Honda version is the engine, with the former being powered by a 2.2L twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 that was developed for Chevrolet by Ilmor, producing between 550 hp (410 kW) and 680 hp (507 kW), depending on the circuit. As well as sharing the same chassis, the Chevrolets and Hondas also share the same changeable aero kit.[1] The cars in Motorsport 5 feature the aero kits for both road courses and ovals.
The #1 and #12 along with all of the other DW12s, would make their debut in the 2012 IndyCar season. The #12 would be piloted by Will Power, while the #1, initially numbered as the #28, would be driven by Ryan Hunter-Reay. Both cars would have a strong initial showing in the race at St. Petersburg, with Power taking pole, but eventually finishing 7th, while Hunter-Reay would finish on the podium in 3rd. Power would then take 3 straight wins, with Hunter-Reay finishing just behind in 2nd in the third of those races in São Paulo. After a middling couple of results for both drivers, the #28 would then have its own three race win streak. The season would conclude with the #12 taking a couple of 2nd places and a third place, while the #28 would take its fourth win of the season. With these results, Hunter-Reay would end up winning his first ever drivers' championship, with Power only 3 points behind in 2nd. Chevrolet would win the Manufacturers' Cup, thanks in part to the 7 wins between the two drivers.[2]
For the 2013 season, due to winning the championship, Hunter-Reay would change his car number to the #1. 2013 would end up being less successful for both drivers. Power would take another 3 wins, but his only other podium position would be a 3rd at the Milwaukee Mile. Hunter-Reay on the other hand, would take another six podium finishes, but only two of these would be wins, with the other four being three second places and a third. Power would end up 4th in the drivers' standings, while Hunter-Reay would finish a couple of positions behind in 7th. In the Manufacturers' Cup, Chevrolet would win their second straight title.[3]
Before the start of the 2014 season, Andretti Autosport would switch to using the Honda powertrain.[4] Power would end up having another strong season in 2014. For the third season in a row, he would take 3 wins over the course of the season, although compared to the previous two years, he had three second places and a third this time around. This would allow him to win his first drivers' championship, while Chevrolet would win the Manufacturers' Cup for the third year in a row.[5] For the 2015 season, all of the Chevrolets (and the Hondas) would see a change to their aero kits, with the standardized kit being replaced by aero kits made by the manufacturers themselves.[1]
