The 2015 Chevrolet #67 CFH Racing IndyCar - abbreviated as #67 Chevy Indy - is an IndyCar by Chevrolet.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 6.
Synopsis[]
Succeeding the IR-05, the DW12 was built by Dallara to be used as the standard chassis in the IndyCar Series. The car's name departed from Dallara's regular naming conventions due to the death of its test driver, Dan Wheldon, just before its introduction, with the chassis named in his honor. While the original version of the chassis featured a standardized aero kit, the 2015 version of the car each featured an aero kit developed by Pratt & Miller. The other major difference between the Chevrolet version and the Honda version is the engine, with the former being powered by a 2.2L twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 that was developed for Chevrolet by Ilmor, producing between 550 hp (410 kW) and 680 hp (507 kW), depending on the circuit.[1] The cars in Motorsport 6 feature the aero kits for both road courses and ovals.
The #1, #67, and #9 would all first compete in the 2015 IndyCar season. The #1 would be driven by Will Power, with him taking the number due to winning the championship the previous season, the #67 would be piloted by Josef Newgarden, and the #9 would have Scott Dixon behind the wheel. Power would have the best start to the season of the three, taking 2nd in the season opening race at St Petersburg, however both Dixon and Newgarden would each take a win before he did. Dixon would end up taking 2 more wins and a 3rd place on course to a tie for the drivers' title with Juan Pablo Montoya, but due to having one more win, he would take the championship, his 4th overall. Power would finish 3rd in the drivers' standings after adding another 2nd place finish, while Newgarden would finish a bit farther down in 7th after taking another win and a couple of 2nd places. Chevrolet would once again win the Manufacturers' Cup.[2]
The #9 would be the only car to retain its number for the 2016 season, with Power switching back to his usual #12, while Newgarden would switch to the #21. The season, wouldn't start great for Power, as while he would take pole for the race at St Petersburg, he would have to withdraw due to an ear infection. He would manage to turn things around at the next race at Phoenix Raceway though, taking 3rd behind the winner of the race, Power. Things would quiet down a bit for Power until the midpoint of the season, when he finished in the top two for 6 races in a row, taking 4 wins. This wouldn't be enough to see him win another drivers' title though, as he would finish 2nd behind Simon Pagenaud who had a similar stretch at the start of the season. Dixon would end up taking another win along with a second and third place each but would only manage to finish 6th. Newgarden would take one win, a 2nd place, and two 3rd places finishes on course to 4th, just missing out on the overall podium by 2 points. On the manufacturers' side of things, Chevrolet would win their fifth straight Manufacturers' Cup.[3]
Performance[]
It has astoundingly quick acceleration, reaching 100 mph (161 km/h) in under 5.5 seconds, as well as considerably sharp steering suitable for high speeds, especially on the aforementioned track.
Despite the car's appearance, it handles only slightly worse than the Formula One cars. The IndyCar also has a high top speed for its class, capable of hitting 237 mph (382 km/h), higher than most X-Class cars in the Forza Motorsport series' Xbox One generation. The IndyCar also has very responsive and efficient braking, meaning it can go on longer before eventually having to slow down to cornering-appropriate speeds.
All models perform exactly the same with the #67 model only having a slightly longer braking distance by a tenth of a foot.
Variants[]
Forza Motorsport 6 features three variants of the Chevrolet IndyCar:
- 2015 Chevrolet #1 Team Penske IndyCar
- 2015 Chevrolet #9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing IndyCar
- 2015 Chevrolet #67 CFH Racing IndyCar
