"We won’t blame you if, upon seeing a ’96 Chevy Impala SS in your rear view mirror in Forza 4, your first instinct is to slow down. The Impala, after all, has its roots as a go-to vehicle for police forces around the U.S. The Impala was resurrected by Chevy in 1994, after a nine-year hiatus, and brought to market with a comfortable interior worthy of a sedan and durability worthy of stalwart cop cars like the Caprice. The 5.7 liter LT1 V8 engine churns out a healthy 260 hp — a good thing, considering the Impala’s sheer size. Small details like the center-console shifter and analog gauges were new for the ’96 Impala, which turned out to be the final in the line until the Impala name was again resurrected in 2000."—Official description[1]
The 1996 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport - also referred to as "Chevrolet Impala SS" and abbreviated as "Chevy Impala '96" - is a rear-wheel drive sedan by Chevrolet.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the January Jalopnik Car Pack, in Forza Horizon 4 as a seasonal reward since the Update 11 patch and Forza Horizon 5.
Synopsis[]
The 1994 to 1996 Impala SS (Super Sport) reintroduced an SS performance model of the Impala after a 25 year hiatus, as well as the Impala name itself after its discontinuation in 1985. The 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 is a predecessor model also featured in the Forza series.
It was offered with a LT1 eight-cylinder engine from the Chevrolet Corvette C4 and was based on the final B-body Chevrolet Caprice, making it the last rear-wheel drive Impala model. Following the car's end of production, the Impala name was resurrected again for the 2000 model year for various generations of front-wheel drive sedans.
