"When Australian Minister of Transport Milton Morris called the E49 and its competition “bullets on wheels,” it was the death knell for the muscle cars from down under. Fortunately, the VH Valiant Charger in the E49 configuration was already out and all 149 of them sold like hot cakes. With its mighty 265-cubic-inch slant-six with a racy cam and four-speed, the E49 set a production vehicle acceleration record that would stand for 27 years. Speed and rarity aside, the VH Valiant Charger represents the only car designed completely by Chrysler Australia."
—Official description[1]

The 1972 Chrysler VH Valiant Charger R/T E49 - abbreviated as "Charger R/T E49", "Dodge Charger 72", "Chrysler Valiant" or "Chry. Valiant '72"[2] - is an Australian-made muscle car by Chrysler.

It appears in Forza Horizon 3 as part of the Hot Wheels Expansion and as standard in all subsequent main series titles except Forza Horizon 5.

It was initially unlockable in Forza Motorsport 7 by completing all the challenges for the Forzathon event Fingers Crossed in March 2018.

Synopsis

The Valiant Charger R/T was a series of muscle cars manufactured in Australia, with the E49 being the fastest out of all models. Unlike most 1970s muscle cars, the E49 uses an inline-6 engine instead of a V8.

Trivia

  • The Valiant Charger is of Australian origin in real life, having been designed by Chrysler Australia, but is featured in Forza series titles as a United States model.
  • Hitting 200 mph (322 km/h) at any Speed Trap in the Valiant Charger unlocks the CHARGE! achievement.
  • The description incorrectly refers to the car's engine as a Slant-Six engine, the predecessor to the inline-six Hemi engine of the Valiant Charger.
  • In Forza Motorsport (2023), its engine can be swapped onto various muscle cars.
