"Not to be outdone by arch-rival Maserati (who built the first mid-engined V12 sports car), Ferrari built the 250 P, which smashed the track record at Monza in 1962 and earned first and third in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, along with a then-outdated front-engined Ferrari 250 GTO taking second. The 250 P became the base for the 250LM with the addition of a roof and more rigid chassis tubes. With only 32 models ever built, the 250LM never reached homologation and was forced to race in the prototype class where it continued to win. Among Ferrari’s faithful Tifosi, the 250LM holds a special place as the last car to achieve an overall victory at Le Mans. "—Official description[1]
The 1963 Ferrari 250LM is a rear-wheel drive race car by Ferrari.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 6 as part of the Mobil 1 Car Pack and in all subsequent Forza main titles.
Synopsis[]
The 250LM (Le Mans) is a mid-engine race variant of the Ferrari 250 that was built in 1963. A berlinetta version of the 250 P sports prototype, the 250LM was designed for the Group 3 class, although homologation was refused by the FIA as Ferrari did not build 100 units that were required. As a result, the 250LM was forced to run in the prototype class.[2]
Despite having to compete in an unintended car class, the 250 LM was successful in motorsports: its most notable victory was in the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it finished in first, second and sixth place.
