"Many cars have big shoes to fill when they step in to replace well-loved outgoing models, but when it’s a Ferrari—and in particular, a beautiful and capable model like the F355—it’s even harder. The 360 Modena not only succeeds, it blows the F355 out of the water. Despite being 10 percent larger than the F355, the 360 manages to be nearly 30 percent lighter thanks to Ferrari’s first use of all-aluminum construction in a road car. Nearly everything—the body, the chassis, and the suspension wishbones—are made of out the lightweight metal. As a bonus, the 360 boasted the stiffest chassis in the world at the time of its introduction. The light weight, fairly evenly distributed front-to-back, and the light chassis make the 360 an excellent handler, able to pull nearly a full lateral G while cornering. Under the glass engine cover is a slightly revised version of the F355 engine making about 20 more horsepower, meaning performance is as nice as the smooth, organic Pininfarnia lines. While the 360 has been succeeded by the F430 and later the 458 Italia, there is a unique charm to the overall package that ensures that the 360 Modena will have a deserved place in the pantheon of classic Ferraris."—Official description[1]
