"A Forza first! The latest track specialist supercar from Ferrari. With each new model of their mid-engine supercars, Ferrari has brought a low-production, even higher-performance model to the proverbial table. They came with names like Challenge Stradale, Scuderia, Speciale, and now, the Pista (that’s Italian for “track”). As with previous track specialists, they have wrung out additional horsepower, and lost weight. The Pista lost 40 pounds alone just in engine weight, while gaining 49 horsepower. Throughout you will find improvements to airflow and downforce. It’s the ultimate 488, and it’s raised the bar of what to expect from Ferrari… again."—Official description[1]
The 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista - abbreviated as "488 Pista '19" or "Ferrari 488"[2] - is a rear-wheel drive performance supercar by Ferrari.
It appears in Forza Horizon 4 as a Festival Playlist reward since Update 16, and all subsequent main series titles.
Synopsis[]
Similar to previous mid-engine V8 Ferrari cars, the Ferrari 488 GTB received a track-oriented variant - known as 488 Pista - for the 2019 model year. It was upgraded using various engineering solutions from Ferrari 488-based race cars.
Drivetrain[]
The twin-turbo V8 engine was updated with a lower weight and improved performance specifications. Outputting 711 hp (530 kW) at 8000 rpm, it yields a 50 hp[3] increase over the 488 GTB, while torque was slightly increased to 567 ft·lb (769 N·m).
The air intakes were moved to the rear wing to reduce pressure losses.[4]
Platform[]
The body shell received lightweight material applications including carbon-fiber on the hood, bumpers and rear wing, as well as lexan for the rear window.[5] Thanks in addition to the optional 20 inch carbon fiber wheels, the curb weight (with fluids) was brought down to 3053 lb (1385 kg), yielding an impressive decrease of 199 lb (90 kg)[6] compared to the 488 GTB.
The entire body was further redesigned to improve aerodynamic efficiency by 20% as well as engine and brakes cooling.[7]
