"How many cars could possibly need 180 mph-rated winter tires? The Ferrari FF is one of very few, and it was a game-changer for Ferrari. “FF” stands for Ferrari Four — namely, four seats and four-wheel drive. That means it’s a grand tourer that’s both somewhat practical for everyday tasks and less everyday ones, such as conveying four of your closest friends up a snowy mountain pass at triple-digit speeds) Power — and lots of it — is provided by a Ferrari V12 mounted in the traditional up front position, making a cool 651 horsepower. From there, things get highly unconventional. First, there’s the Pininfarina shooting brake body style, a first for a production Ferrari. Then there’s another first, the all-wheel drive system known as “4RM” that’s 50 percent lighter than a traditional arrangement, utilizing a small gearbox up front to transmit power directly from the crankshaft to the front wheels in low-traction situations. Translation: the system ensures that the FF has stupendous grip on nearly any surface which, combined with the near perfect weight distribution and ample power, will allow the FF to shock and delight up to four lucky occupants."—Official description[1]
The 2011 Ferrari FF is an all-wheel drive grand tourer by Ferrari.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 and all subsequent main series titles up to Forza Horizon 4 except for Forza Horizon 2.
It was available in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of the The Smoking Tire Car Pack.
Since Forza Horizon 5, it has been replaced by the GTC4Lusso.
Synopsis[]
A shooting brake grand tourer, the FF's name is a reference to the car having four seats and all-wheel drive, the latter marking the first time all-wheel drive production Ferrari model. The successor to the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, the FF was produced between 2011 and 2016. In 2016, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso was introduced as the successor to the FF.
The Ferrari FF uses a 6.3 L (6,262 cc) naturally aspirated V12 engine with a codename of F140 EB, making it the largest road-going Ferrari engine ever produced at the time of its reveal in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. The FF makes 651 hp (485 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 504 ft·lb (683 N·m) of torque at 6,000 rpm, although the Forza renditions of the car are featured with an incorrect torque specification of 495 ft·lb (671 N·m). In addition, the Forza Motorsport 6 rendition of the FF has 653 hp (487 kW).[2]
The FF uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with a paddle shift system similar to the one used in the California, 458 Italia, and F12berlinetta but with power sent to all four wheels instead of the rear wheels. The new all-wheel drive system is called 4RM, which is around 50% lighter than a conventional all-wheel drive system and provides power intelligently to each of the four wheels as needed. It functions only when the manettino dial on the steering wheel is in the "comfort" or "snow" positions, leaving the car most often in the traditional rear wheel drive layout.
Performance[]
The FF accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 7.8 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h), which is always exceeded in each Forza title.
