"At a glance, the 1972 300 SEL shows itself to be a composed, beautifully appointed luxury saloon. Under the hood, however, is the biggest quad-cam V8 Mercedes built. It could push the car to a top speed of 137 mph [sic]. In utter comfort, mind you. It was, in fact, the fastest sedan in the world in 1972 and did 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Its air-ride suspension was self-leveling based on the load. AMG was just a small local tuning company back then. They produced special competitive versions of the 300 SEL and had an impressive, albeit short, racing career. Sadly, the early seventies energy crisis meant the end of the 300 SEL 6.3. It will not be forgotten though, especially when you can wheel it anytime in Forza 4."
—Official description[1]

The 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 - abbreviated as M-B 300 SEL - is a RWD saloon by Mercedes-Benz that debuted in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the April Alpinestars Pack. It returned in Forza Horizon 3 with the March 2017 update and appears in Forza Motorsport 7.

Synopsis[]

The 300 SEL 6.3 is the high-end model of the W109 full-size luxury car that was produced from 1965 to 1973. In 1975, the 450 SEL 6.9 based on the first generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class was introduced to replace the 300 SEL 6.3.

Drivetrain[]

It borrowed the engine from the the larger 600 luxury saloon, a 6.3 litre V8 engine. The M100 codenamed engine utilised mechanical fuel injection, a single overhead camshaft and aluminium cylinder heads. It was optimised to produce 300 hp (224 kW) and 435 ft·lb (590 N·m) of torque, which allowed a top speed of 153 mph (246 km/h). The SEL 6.3 was solely available with a four-speed automatic transmission.
