"Ferrari owners are a lucky few on most days, but with the introduction of the FXX program, there became a smaller number of even luckier owners. That is, if “ownership” is the right word, because if you purchase an FXX you can’t take it home. It stays with Ferrari, who invites you to drive it on specially scheduled track days, and then gathers various performance metrics which it uses to make its cars even better. You see, FXX owners are essentially semi-official Ferrari test drivers, who provide useful data to Ferrari in return for getting to unleash one of the wildest Ferraris ever to ever roll out of Maranello on private race days. Sharing some parts and construction with the Enzo, there’s a familiar resemblance, but the FXX’s 789-horsepower V12 and incredible handling (the FXX can pull far more than one lateral G on the skidpad) are head-and-shoulders above even the Enzo’s incredible performance. Not street legal and not homologated for racing use, the only place you can truly appreciate the FXX without an invitation from Ferrari is in Forza 4."—Official description (Forza Horizon)[1]
The 2005 Ferrari FXX is a track-focused supercar by Ferrari that debuted in the December Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 2 and returned for all subsequent Xbox 360 titles up to Forza Horizon, but did not appear again until its inclusion in Forza Horizon 4 as part of the Car Pass since November 29, 2018.
Synopsis[]
The FXX, based on the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari road car, entered production in 2005 and was developed as part of the Ferrari XX Programmes. An improved variant, the FXX Evoluzione, was also produced up to 2009. In 2014, the LaFerrari-based Ferrari FXX K, the FXX's successor, was released.
The FXX, a part of the Ferrari XX Programmes that currently includes the 599XX, 599XX Evoluzione, and FXX K, uses some technology developed from the Enzo Ferrari and combines it with new developments from Ferrari and its suppliers. Customers are only allowed to drive the FXX on special track days that Ferrari approves.
The FXX is powered by a 6.3L (6,262 cc) naturally aspirated F140 DA V12 engine, with 789 hp (588 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 506 ft·lb (686 N·m) of torque at 5,750 rpm. It comes with a DOHC valvetrain with 4 valves per cylinder and continuously variable valve timing. The car is driven by a six-speed semi-automatic transmission that brings power to the rear wheels.
The FXX is built on a carbon fiber body over a carbon fiber tub with a rear alloy subframe, with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. It weighs 2546 lb (1155 kg) in Xbox 360 titles but weighs 2731 lb (1239 kg) in Forza Horizon 4.
Performance[]
The FXX is capable of 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 214 mph (345 km/h), although it can only reach 187 mph (301 km/h) in Xbox 360 titles.
