RUF is a German car manufacturer that appears in Forza Motorsport 4 and in all subsequent titles up to Forza Horizon 2.

Synopsis[]

"RUF Automobile GmbH is a highly regarded German automobile manufacturer known for performance enhancements, automobile refinements, and classic car restoration. The company was founded in 1939 by Alois Ruf Sr., who built a service garage and gas station. In the late 1940s, Ruf began experimenting with car designs, and, in the 1950s, he successfully marketed a tour bus and began tuning VW Beetles. Upon Alois Ruf Sr.'s death in 1974, his son, who had apprenticed under his father since age 10, took control of the company. And avid sports car enthusiast, Alois Jr. focused on his passion: high-performance sports cars, and the company began producing performance breakthroughs. In 1987 RUF debuted the iconic RUF CTR, better known as the 'Yellowbird.' This limited-edition, 469 horsepower, twin-turbo coupe beat the world speed record for production cars at 212 mph (342 km/h), prompting Road & Track to liken it to 'mercury on a Teflon skillet.' RUF expanded into alternative fuel sources and in October 2008, they offered the first German electric automobile, the eRUF. But the company didn't leave its supercar roots behind. In 2010 RUF unveiled the RGT-8, which features a 4.5-liter V8 engine (custom designed and manufactured by RUF), 550 horsepower, 367 pound-feet of torque, custom interior, integrated roll cage, 19-inch RUF wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes."
—Official description[1]

Recognized as a car manufacturer in Germany, RUF develops high-performance cars based on unmarked Porsche production car chassis.

Though primarily an independent manufacturer, and recognized as such by the German TÜV, RUF has also made a name for itself operating as a car tuner, a specialist in customer-requested Porsche-to-RUF conversions, and a restorer of classic Porsche and RUF models. RUF carries out service and crash repair, as well.

In 2017, RUF developed a brand new in-house carbon fibre body resemblance the Porsche 964, with an aluminium chassis, allowing RUF to craft new 'classic' cars with a reduced dependency on Porsche.
