The 2020 Ford #2069 Ford Performance Bronco R - abbreviated as "#2069 Bronco R" - is an all-wheel drive prototype off-roader developed by Ford.
It appears in Forza Horizon 5.
Synopsis[]
Built prior to the 2021 Bronco entering production, the Bronco R is a prototype off-roader built as a collaboration between Ford Performance, Geiser Bros Design, and Baja champ Cameron Steele to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rod Hall's overall victory, along with co-driver Larry Minor, of the 1969 Baja 1000 race. He went on to have a five decade long career and earned the accolade "winningest off-road racer in America" for achieving thirty-five race wins in the 1980s.
Even though it was developed in only six months, it was intended as a means to prove the technical, mechanical, and practical basis of a new off-roader by Ford, but is itself based on the Ford Ranger T6 Rally Raid, of which the Ford Ranger Raptor is also based. Its body is made of a lightweight composite and married to a exposed roll cage, with a myriad of aerodynamics elements to improve its speed over the harsh terrain.
Although showcased at the 2019 Baja 1000 as a tribute to Rod Hall, who died a few months before the Baja 1000 event, it competed in the 800.5 miles (1288.3 km) event with some sections driven by Shelby Hall, Rod Hall's granddaughter. During the 2019 Baja 1000, it did not complete the loop from Ensenada due to a cooling fan issue, but managed to complete at least half of the route.
It competed in the 2020 Baja 1000, managing to finish the event with drivers Cameron Steele and Shelby Hall achieving second overall in Class 2, as well as being accompanied by a pre-production Bronco Outer Banks as a support vehicle.
