"While the exterior upgrades are subtle on this hotted-up Focus, such as the black mesh grille insert or the rear hatch spoiler, things are wilder under the skin. That’s because Ford’s SVT go-fast division got their hands on the European-tuned Focus world car, and applied a little American hot rodding ingenuity to improving the hatch. The powerplant was massaged with new pistons for increased compression, hotter cams, and better flow throughout with the use of new intake and exhaust. The total power gain over a pedestrian Focus is nearly 40 horsepower, which is immediately noticeable as you explore the wide powerband and easy-revving nature of the 2-liter engine. Stiff suspension and revised bushings allow the SVT Focus to remain nonplussed by complex corners. Just as important as how it looks and drives, the SVT Focus also sounds great thanks to a sporty exhaust note and throaty intake roar, which adds to an already engaging driving experience."—Official description[1]
