"The biggest weapon in the Fusion Sport’s arsenal, aside from the second-generation chassis with a host of refinements, is the “Duratec 35,” a 3.5-liter V6 that utilizes variable valve timing to produce 263 horsepower and 249 ft-lbs. of torque. While the Fusion’s no compact car, the powerplant provides more than enough motive force to put up respectable acceleration numbers, and feels punchy and rewarding at any RPM. Handling benefits from the Sport’s all-wheel drive system, which helps the Fusion get all that power down to the ground and pull respectable lateral acceleration numbers—also helped by Ford’s aggressive (for the class of car) suspension tuning that increases handling sharpness without significantly affecting ride quality. The overall effect is that the Fusion is a very competent AWD sport sedan, perfectly capable of providing entertaining apexing on the track and more than adequate straight-line acceleration."—Official description[1]
