While the Fusion’s no compact car, the powerplant provides more than enough motive force to put up respectable acceleration numbers, and feels punchy and rewarding at any RPM. Handling benefits from the Sport’s all-wheel drive system, which helps the Fusion get all that power down to the ground and pull respectable lateral acceleration numbers—also helped by Ford’s aggressive (for the class of car) suspension tuning that increases handling sharpness without significantly affecting ride quality.
