"The Ford GT was created to fulfill the most auspicious destiny in the world of motorsport – claiming victory at Le Mans. Marking the 50th anniversary of the original Ford GT 40’s victory, the new Ford GT was built to prove that Ford can still dominate at the highest level of sports car racing. The production model GT is the starting point for homologation from which endurance racing provenance is borne. Take one look, or one listen, or one drive, and the character of a champion is obvious. Throughout the carved aerodynamics and gloriously sculptured form, players will find active elements and static design that create not only unique allure, but massive downforce. Within, technology abounds in adjustable suspension and drivetrain settings that put 647 EcoBoost twin-turbo driven horsepower to the massive rear wheels. Ford Performance set the bar high when they reinvented the GT, and of course both destiny and expectations were exceeded with not only the victory they sought, but the awe of the lucky 1,000 owners who are lucky enough to own them."—Official description[1]
The 2017 Ford GT - abbreviated as "Ford GT '17" - is a rear-wheel drive supercar by Ford.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 6 and all subsequent main series titles, as well as Forza Motorsport 6: Apex and Forza Street.
Synopsis[]
The 2017 Ford GT is the second-generation model of the limited-production Ford GT supercar from 2005. It went into production in December 2016 as a 2017 model to mark 50 years since the GT40 won the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, with one car being built each day until October 2020.
Similar to its predecessor, the 2017 GT is Ford's halo car that shows the company's prowess in performance and technology. As such, it is equipped with a racing-inspired pushrod suspension and active aerodynamics, the first for a Ford car.[2] The car weighs 2890 lb (1311 kg), but weighs 3148 lb (1428 kg) in Forza Motorsport 7.
The engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter (3500 cc) Ecoboost V6 producing 630 hp (470 kW) at 6550 rpm and 539 ft·lb (731 N·m) of torque between 1200 to 5800 rpm, although it is featured with 647 hp (482 kW) and 550 ft·lb (746 N·m) of torque in Forza Motorsport 7. It is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox delivering power to the rear wheels.
Performance[]
It can do 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 5.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 216 mph (348 km/h), making it the fastest Ford production car. In the Forza games, this top speed is always exceeded, with the Forza Motorsport 7 rendition of the car reaching 228 mph (367 km/h).
Variants[]
Nutri-Grain Edition[]
The 2017 Ford GT Nutri-Grain Edition is a liveried variant of the 2017 Ford GT available only to New Zealand players in Forza Motorsport 6 as part of a promotion with Nutri-Grain.
Horizon Edition[]
The Horizon Edition - abbreviated as "2017 Ford GT HE" - is an upgraded variant featuring a double credits boost and stock Performance Index raised to S2 932 that can be upgraded to S2 998 with an upgrade preset.
The latter includes aerodynamic upgrades and the 6.5L V12 engine swap with Twin Turbo aspiration, offering 1310 hp (977 kW) and 952 ft·lb (1291 N·m) of torque. The design consists of a black body paint with white double racing stripes.
Unlock[]
It is unlockable as a Horizon Wheelspin prize or via the Auction House, but was also made available as a Forzathon reward during three events:
- Winter Wonder Land-Down-Under - December 23, 2016 to December 26, 2016
- Heritage Of Speed - January 26, 2018 to February 2, 2018
- Rhapsodic Racers - August 31, 2018 to September 7, 2018
Forza Edition[]
The Forza Edition comes with homologated performance that retains its stock engine and gives a 50% CR boost that will be doubled for racing at Le Mans. Although its exterior is similar to the Horizon Edition from Forza Horizon 3, it lacks the dual white racing stripes.
Unlock[]
It is rewarded upon completing all Championships in the Forza Driver's Cup.
Welcome Pack[]
The Welcome Pack version of the Ford GT is an S2 998 class variant in Forza Horizon 4. It can be obtained by purchasing the Welcome Pack for Forza Horizon 4, which includes this car and seven others.
OPI Edition[]
The 2017 Ford GT 'OPI Edition' is an upgraded variant of the 2017 Ford GT with an exclusive livery available in Forza Horizon 5 as part of a promotion with OPI. It also features an exclusive Racing V6TT engine conversion.
Unlock[]
It can only be unlocked through a code available after purchasing OPI's promotional nail products.

Trivia[]
- It appears on the cover art for Forza Motorsport 6 and on the normal app icon for Forza Motorsport 6: Apex. Owning the 2017 Ford GT in Forza Motorsport 6 unlocks the Cover Car achievement.
- Its engine cover and front bonnet remain permanently shut in Forzavista, although the Ford #66 Ford Racing GT Le Mans's engine cover and front bonnet can be opened. This was fixed in Forza Motorsport 7, where it now has an openable engine cover.[3] Its engine cover can only be opened and closed via the Explode and Implode functions, respectively.
- In the game files it is referenced as the "2016 Ford Phoenix" ("FOR_Phoenix_16" and "FOR_PhoenixHE_16"). This refers to "Project Phoenix", the code name given to the car while it was in development.[4]
- The Forza Motorsport 7 rendition features side bumper markers, further indicating that the model used is a US-spec model.
- The Forza Edition lacks side bumper markers, indicating that its model was reused from the Horizon Edition in Forza Horizon 3, which in turn is based on the pre-Forza Motorsport 7 rendition of the 2017 Ford GT (the one that lacks side bumper markers).
- Up until Forza Horizon 4, this car came with only Liquid Blue as a manufacturer color option, even though it is available with multiple colors in real life.[5]
- Its windshield glass is made of Gorilla Glass, which is also used for smartphone screens.
- It is the 5th vehicle to feature as the hero car in Forza Street, succeeding the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
- Between May 5 to June 5, 2020, all players can unlock a 3-Star Ford GT with an additional 100 Gold and 2000 Credits, as part of the Founder's Pack celebrating the game's launch on the mobile platform.
- In Forza Motorsport (2023), the Ford GT features a livery reminiscent of the Ford GT '66 Heritage Edition.
