"Galloping to the Horizon Festival with crashing footfalls; it’s the latest, biggest, and meanest horse we have seen: the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. As soon as you pop this car’s hood you will be greeted with a very delightful badge, one that says “5.0”. The emblem is not there only for decoration, it’s to remind you of the massive 5.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated Coyote engine that drives this car forward and powers it with 500 horsepower. 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive to get the complete muscle car experience and an updated braking system to excel its performance on the track as well. Enjoy the reckless charge of the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse!"
The Dark Horse features several upgrades to the suspension and handling, bigger brakes, cooling and aerodynamic improvements and extra power. The Dark Horse featured in the Forza series features the Handling Package, which adds more aggressive camber, a bigger front and rear splitter, a new Gurney flap rear wing and Pirelli Trofeo RS tires.[2]
Track-only racing variants, the Mustang Dark Horse S and R, were also unveiled, both having all non-essential parts stripped away, an FIA certified rollcage, race seats and steering wheel, safety nets and a fire supression system, as well as Ford Performance Parts wheels, a fuel cell, a racing exhaust and special serialization for the R model. The Dark Horse R was made for the IMSA-sanctioned single-make Mustang Challenge series.[3]
