"It’s been fifty years since this American automotive icon was introduced and effectively changed the domestic car market. The Mustang has been many things to many people and, through its many evolutions, it has been many things unto itself. Since the introduction of the more classically shaped Mustang in 2005, a rebirth of the Mustang took place. Now, ten years later, with a search for global-viability factoring in to the Mustang’s redesign, we still see the classic form but with some tweaks that distinguish this ‘Stang as something new. Under this new skin nearly every inch of the 2015 Mustang has been reengineered for efficiency, reliability, and performance. Under its aluminum hood, in between aluminum fenders that together offer 200 pounds of weight savings, the new V8 (in GT models) brings more than 400 ponies under the command of your right foot. Rear-wheel drive is a precious commodity the Mustang has always cornered the market with, and the new Mustang is happy as ever to light up the rear wheels, get tail-happy, or just delight you with its tendency for oversteer. Most of all though, this is a Mustang, and the passion that lights in the soul of Mustang lovers is reason enough to make it a favorite."

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is a FR sports car that debuted in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of the August 2014 update, and has reappeared in the Launch Bonus Car Pack for Forza Horizon 2. It appears as standard in all subsequent Forza main titles except Forza Horizon 3.

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is part of the sixth-generation (2015-present) Ford Mustang, which is the current iteration of the Ford Mustang pony car. In departure from preceeding Mustang models, the sixth generation Mustang includes fully independent rear suspension on all models, as well as an optional 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged and direct injected four cylinder engine. It was introduced as a 2015 model year vehicle, marking the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, which was revealed as a 1965 model year vehicle on April 17, 1964.

The sixth-generation Ford Mustang received a facelift in 2017 for the 2018 model year.

Characteristics

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT carries a 5.0L (4,951 cc) Coyote V8 engine with 415 hp (309 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 391 ft·lb (530 N·m) at 4,250 rpm, with a compression ratio of 11:1. These figures are for the Mustang GT Export model and are used in the Forza games.

There are two choices for the transmission: a six-speed TR3160 manual and a six-speed 6R80 automatic, the former being used in the Forza franchise and the latter being available in pre-facelift sixth-generation Mustangs.

Trivia

  • The in-game power output of the 2015 Ford Mustang GT is actually incorrect, as it features 415 hp (309 kW) in real life and the in-game power output of 421 hp (314 kW) is a misconversion of its 415 hp (309 kW) from brake horsepower to metric horsepower (PS) and then changing the unit back to brake horsepower.
