The 2009 Formula Drift #99 Mazda RX-8, abbreviated as "#99 Mazda RX-8", is a high-performance drift car based on a Mazda RX-8 R3 and driven by Kyle Mohan as the #99 car in Formula Drift.
Synopsis[]
With a Mazda RX-8 as a base, Kyle Mohan's RX-8 is fitted with a 20B 3-Rotor engine and a single turbocharger.
Built by his own company - Kyle Mohan Racing - the 3-Rotor engine is sourced from a Series JC Mazda Cosmo and is fitted with a Precision Turbo 7275, which is spooled by a Nitrous Express system delivering a 70 horsepower shot of nitrous-oxide. A Haltech Elite 2500 ECU and ethanol fuel system push the purpose-built engine to produce 1,000 horsepower.
Power from the engine is delivered to the rear wheels through an HGT sequential 5-speed transmission with an Exedy triple-disc clutch and a Winters Sikky Pro 1000 limited-slip differential fitted to the rear.
