Driver Gear sets can be obtained through many ways:
- Completing Championships of the Forza Driver's Cup
- Selecting them as a Driver Level Milestone reward
- Participating in Rivals events or Leagues
- Forzathon
- VIP Membership DLC
- Pre-order bonuses
- Playing other first party Microsoft titles (e.g. Halo, Gears of War) before a certain date

- There are four achievements that can be unlocked upon obtaining a certain number of Driver Gear suits:
- Suit Up = 10 Driver Gear suits
- If The Shoe Fits... = 25 Driver Gear suits
- Decked Out = 50 Driver Gear suits
- Fashion Statement = 100 Driver Gear suits
- Not all manufacturers featured in Forza Motorsport 7 are represented in driver gear form - a notable omission is Ford.
- The BMW manufacturer driver gear has a unique design, with no attributes shared with any other driver gear.
- There are two Hyundai driver gear suits - Hyundai and Hyundai 2019. Additionally, a Hyundai N Avatar Racing Suit is available separately on the Avatar Marketplace, free of charge.
- Climbkhana, available as part of the Hoonigan Car Pack, marks the first time a driver gear is released in conjunction with a car pack DLC.
- Helmets, gloves, and footwear cannot be selected as a separate customizable option, nor can they be custom painted with the paint editor - each individual driver gear is a fixed preset.
- As with previous Motorsport titles, both sexes - male and female - can be selected for every driver gear, however, body size, type, shape etc. cannot be adjusted.
- Select driver gear suits have the HANS device visibly equipped - one such example is the ForzaRC 2018 World Championship Suit.
