The 2019 Ginetta #6 Team LNT Ginetta G60-LT-P1 - abbreviated as "Ginetta #6 G60" - is a sports prototype by Ginetta.
It appears in Forza Motorsport (2023).
Synopsis[]
The G60-LT-P1 is a non-hybrid sports prototype endurance racing car manufactured by Ginetta Cars for use in the FIA World Endurance Championship in the LMP1 category. The G60-LT-P1 marks a return of Ginetta to the LMP1 category after the 2011 Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S, made obsolete due to new LMP1 regulations.[1]
Initially announced in 2017, the G60-LT-P1 would be designed by noted race car designers Adrian Reynard and Paolo Catone and developed using CFD; the car would be launched at the Autosport International 2018 trade show; the car was initially powered by a 3.4L Mecachrome V634P1 turbocharged V6, similar to the engines used in the Formula 2 Championship since 2018. Two chassis would be purchased by Manor Motorsport and run in the World Endurance Championship in collaboration with Talent Racing Sports under the CEFC TRSM Racing banner, numbered 5 and 6; the cars were initially intended to run at the 2018 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps but ultimately withdrew as Ginetta refused to let the team run the cars due to late payments. The cars would ultimately make their debut at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it became apparent that they were uncompetitive due to wrong setups; #6 would retire due to electrical issues while #5 finished the race but due to drive time limits being broken the car was subject to penalties and ended up becoming the last classified finisher in 41st.
The team would not compete in any more races during the season, with the #6 car's engine being changed to an AER P60B 2.4L twin-turbocharged V6 due to Mechachrome's refusal to increase the engine's power and Talent Racing Sports's way of running the team causing Manor to distance themselves from the team; this engine has been used by other cars in the past, such as the Rebellion R-One. Ginetta would lodge a bid to enter the 2019 WEC season under their own in-house team, Team LNT; in this trim the car was significantly more competitive, with a 3rd place finish at its first race, the 4 Hours of Silverstone. The cars would last run at the 2019 8 Hours of Bahrain, where both cars retired; following this the cars were shipped back to the Ginetta factory for repairs, with the team being removed from the entry list of the 2020 Lone Star Le Mans. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic the cars were withdrawn from more events due to the financial impact, with Team LNT ultimately winding up the program to campaign the G60-LT-P1 in WEC, having not run in any races since 2019 and aborting future plans to run the cars in 2021.
