Hennessey Venom GT

"Born with the goal of being a 1,000-plus horsepower car that weighs less than 3,000-pounds, the Hennessey Venom GT is based on the Lotus Elise—complete with the Venom 1,000 horsepower, twin-turbo motor, then lightened. Certainly these are reasonable goals, so long as destroying a Bugatti Veyron’s 0-200 mph time is your primary focus. As a result, the Hennessey Venom GT does 0-200 mph faster than many average cars can do 0-60 mph: 15.3 seconds to be exact. That’s almost 10 seconds faster than the Bugatti. The G-forces felt under full acceleration nearly equal that of a fighter jet doing an inverted loop. The all-aluminum 6.2-liter, twin-turbo, V8 delivers an astonishing 1,200 horsepower, put to the pavement via a six-speed transmission connected to the rear wheels. The car is almost entirely carbon fiber composite and weighs in at a mere 2,685 pounds. The 2012 Hennessey Venom GT - abbreviated as "Hennessey Venom" - is a rear-wheel drive hypercar by Hennessey.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the May Top Gear Car Pack, and as standard in all subsequent main series titles.

It also appears in Forza Motorsport 6: Apex as part of the Hyper Endurance Car Pack.

Synopsis[]

The Hennessey Venom GT is built on a heavily modified Lotus Exige chassis, driven by a 1000+ horsepower General Motors 'LSX' V8 engine, while also weighing only 2685 lb (1218 kg) thanks to carbonfiber bodywork and wheels.

The LSX has been converted to a twin-turbo aspiration, and produces 1200 hp (895 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 1155 ft·lb (1566 N·m) at 4,400 rpm. It is mounted behind the driver as part of a mid-engine, rear wheel drive platform, and mated to a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission shared with the 2005 Ford GT.

The Venom GT is built entirely out of a carbon fiber composite, resulting in a weight of 2685 lb (1218 kg), which results in a very high power-to-weight ratio of 985 hp (735 kW) per tonne.

Performance[]

Driven by a powerful, high-displacement engine, the Venom GT exceeds in terms of straight-line performance. Off the line, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 5.3 seconds, although its launch is affected by wheelspin with the traction control turned off. It has one of the highest top speeds in the Forza series, hitting up to a maximum of 270 mph (435 km/h).

The Venom GT may have handling issues due to moderate understeer around corners, although it overall turns more sharply than similar AWD-equipped cars.

Trivia[]

The rear wing stays permanently up. It can be customized to be permanently down as well.
In Forzavista, the engine cover and front hood cannot be opened.
The hood is always painted the same color as the body and cannot be painted a different color.
Despite clocking a higher top speed than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which achieved 267.856 mph (431.072 km/h), the Venom GT did not officially qualify in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "fastest production car", as its top speed run was not done in two directions. It also has to be classified as a production car, requiring Hennessey to build 30 or more units, of which only 29 were built.
The engine's power output is incorrect as it should produce 1244 hp (928 kW).
