"The third generation Civic Type-R is even more unique than its predecessor. Still built in England, the three-door EDM Type-R is now very different than its four-door JDM counterpart. Interestingly, the hatch is lighter and more driver-focused than the Japanese offering, riding on a unique chassis. Forward progress is provided by a powerful 2-liter motor, with refined responsiveness due to a new drive-by-wire throttle. The new bodywork is both more aggressive and more aerodynamic, cutting through the air and looking good all the while. And the new Type R is just as quick as the last version, but the already-impressive driving dynamics have been improved for sharper handling—a wider rear track and revised suspension keep the Civic planted in the twisties, and even more chassis stiffening communicate road feedback but not rattles back to the driver. All in all, it’s a serious improvement on what was already a highly focused driver’s car, making it one of the best ever vehicles to sport the red “R.” "—Official description[1]
