"For car fans, seeing the letter “R” on a car usually means something special. In the case of the Civic Type R, “R” means “racing,” as in race-bred. Honda didn’t just slap some logos and some wheels on this specification either. The R might also stand for “ridiculous” horsepower – as in more than 300hp. Take one look at the sleek and aggressive aero kit and “R” can easily stand for “radical.” From the torque-steer limiting dual-axis strut suspension, to the mechanical front differential and the Brembo brakes, this Civic Type R is just what Honda fans, and Forza fans, have been waiting for."—Official description[1]
The 2015/2016[2] Honda Civic Type R - abbreviated as "Honda Civic '15/'16" - is a front-wheel drive hot hatch by Honda.
It appears in Forza Horizon 3 as part of the Playseat Car Pack, and as standard in all subsequent main series titles except Forza Motorsport (2023).
Synopsis[]
The 2015 Civic Type R, internally codenamed FK2, marks the fourth generation of the Civic Type R hot hatch. Similar to its predecessors, the Civic Type R is front-wheel drive but also powered by a turbocharging engine, making it Honda's first Type R model with forced induction.
Boasting a power output of 306 hp (228 kW), the Civic Type R is one of the most powerful front-wheel drive hot hatches to date. It set a lap record for front-wheel drive cars on the Nürburgring, which was completed in 7:50 minutes.[3]
The Civic Type R is powered by a two litre turbocharged K-series engine with 306 hp (228 kW) at 6500 rpm and 295 ft·lb (400 N·m) of torque from 2500 to 4500 rpm. To minimize the chance of torque steer, the Civic Type R uses front struts with independent steering knuckles which results in a smaller scrub radius. At the rear, the car uses a H-shaped torsion beam axle with signficantly increased rigidity for improved high speed grip.
The Civic Type R is capable of generating downforce on both front and rear through heavily modified bodywork, a front splitter, rear wing and a flat undertray that channels air to a rear diffusor.[4]
