"You may have thought the 845-horsepower AWD Hoonicorn from Gymkhana 7 would be impossible to top, but this is Ken Block and Hoonigan we are talking about. In the realm of Hoonigan, there are no limits, so when Block got an idea for a new tire-destroying video concept, he decided he needed more power. To get there Vaughn Gitten Jr.’s RTR tuning shop employed two monster turbos, one red, one blue to go with the new patriotic livery, and started feeding the 6.7-liter V8 methanol. With a conservatively rated 1,400 horsepower, perhaps the Hoonicorn will breathe enough fire to quell the horsepower hungry Hoonigan? For now, at least, the upgrades seem to have earned praise and respect from Block, who called it, “the absolute most frightening thing I’ve ever driven!”"—Official description[1]
The 1965 Hoonigan Ford "Hoonicorn" Mustang - abbreviated as "Hoonicorn" - is an all-wheel drive custom drift car by Hoonigan.
It appears in Forza Horizon 3 as part of the Hoonigan Car Pack, in Forza Motorsport 7 as part of the Hoonigan Car Pack, in Forza Horizon 4, and in Forza Horizon 5.
Synopsis[]
The Hoonicorn Mustang is a drift car based on the 1965 Ford Mustang GT Coupe that debuted at the 2014 SEMA Show and was updated in 2016 to a more powerful engine. The name "Hoonicorn" is a portmanteau of "Hoonigan" and "unicorn."
The "Hoonicorn" Mustang has been upgraded from its 845 hp (630 kW) V8 to a 1400 hp (1044 kW) 6.7L twin-turbocharged V8 engine with the turbos provided by RTR. Torque is now rated at 1200 ft·lb (1627 N·m).
The "Hoonicorn" Mustang uses a six-speed manual transmission sending power to all four wheels and is capable of 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 1.8 seconds. Due to the latter, the "Hoonicorn" Mustang has the quickest 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) launch out of any car in the Forza series, although it is closely tied with the Ford Gymkhana 9 Focus RS RX in that regard.[2]
Performance[]
Carrying a very powerful engine with a lot of torque, the Hoonicorn Mustang is the fastest accelerating car in the series at stock, with 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 1.8 seconds and 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 3.15 seconds, outclassing the likes of the Porsche 918 Spyder and Koenigsegg One:1 and even the Ferrari #1 Scuderia Ferrari 641 from the Forza Motorsport series. It also has an extremely high top speed of 255 mph (410 km/h).
The Hoonicorn Mustang has noticeable wheelspin off the line despite its AWD drivetrain, making it suitable for sustained drifts, especially with traction control disabled. However, it has noticeable understeer around corners and has lower braking efficiency than similarly-ranked cars, making it less effective for grip-based racing.
