The Kona N is the top-of-the-line and highest performing trim of the Kona sub-compact crossover SUV range, and the first SUV offered under Hyundai's N performance division. It is named after the western region of Hawaii and first began production in 2017.

Like other N cars, the Kona N sports a 2.0-liter, turbocharged I4 engine developing 276 hp (206 kW) and 284 ft·lb (385 N·m) of torque. With the vehicle's N Grin shift mode activated, horsepower is boosted by 10 hp (7 kW).
