The 1966 Jaguar XJ13 - abbreviated as "Jaguar XJ13" - is a prototype race car by Jaguar.

It appears in Forza Horizon 5 with its inclusion as part of the Car Pass on January 6, 2022.

Synopsis[]

Built as a prototype race car in 1966, the XJ13 was intended to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but was never completed, as the new XJ6 saloon car was also in development for a 1968 release.

Having missed out on its opportunity to race, the development of the 5-litre V12 engine was put to use towards a production V12, which was used for over twenty-five years in other Jaguar cars such as the XJR-9 and the XJR-15.

In 1971, the XJ13 was filmed driving around MIRA for the launch of the series 3 V12 E-Type, but during the final lap after filming had wrapped, one of the old tyres disintegrated and sent driver Norman Dewis into a double front-flip. Although the bodywork was extensively damaged, some parts remained from the car's intimal development, and it was shown fully restored at the 1973 British Grand Prix.
