Description

"Sparing no expense, and designed in a total of six weeks for its one prospective customer, Lamborghini created the open-air Aventador J. In its cockpit you won’t find any climate control—for obvious reasons—or navigation; they would simply add weight. Powered by the standard Aventador’s 700 horsepower 6.5-liter V12, the roofless—and ruthless--J can easily achieve speeds north of 180 mph."

Specifications

The Aventador J is built on the same basic chassis and technical workings as the Aventador LP700-4, with the 6.5L (6,498 cc) naturally aspirated L539 V12 producing 690 hp (515 kW) and 509 ft·lb (690 N·m). The car uses a lightweight 7-speed automated manual transmission sending power to all four wheels.

The Aventador J, however, boasts a radical exterior alteration, with the lack of a roof or windows, as well as the removal of air conditioning and radio systems to save further weight for a total of 3472 lb (1575 kg). The car presented at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show was the only unit to be produced, sold for US$2.8 million.

The J designation was thought to have come from Appendix J in the FIA rulebook that describes the technical specifications of race cars. However, during an interview with designer Filippo Perini, it was revealed that the "J" actually stands for Jota, in reference to a 1970s one off Lamborghini Miura Jota, which also conformed to the FIA's Appendix J regulations.

Performance

The Lamborghini Aventador J drives identically to the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, albeit with the difference of a higher rate of acceleration and a better launch. Braking performance has also been improved, but the Aventador J corners at 1.05 Gs, wider than the LP700-4's 1.31 Gs.

Trivia

  • Just like with the Aventador LP 700-4, the Aventador J's in-game power output is shown as 700 hp (522 kW) instead of 690 hp (515 kW).
