The 1973 Lamborghini Espada 400 GT - abbreviated as "Espada 400 GT '73" or "L. Espada '73" - is a rear-wheel drive supercar manufactured by Lamborghini.
It appears in Forza Horizon 5 as part of the Car Pass on December 23, 2021 and in Forza Motorsport (2023).
Synopsis[]
Designed by Bertone's Marcello Gandini, the Espada entered production in 1968 as 4-seater grand tourer, following its reveal at the 1968 Geneva International Motor Show with the showcase of the second prototype model in gold.
It is fitted with a 3929cc Lamborghini V12 engine developing 325 hp (242 kW) and 375 ft·lb (508 N·m) of torque, which had been developed for the 350 GT in 1963 but was improved upon for use in the 400 GT, Miura P400, Islero, Jalpa, Jarama, and Countach LP400.
The same engine was iterated upon until the second generation Lamborghini V12 was developed for the Aventador.
The Series I models were produced from 1968 until November 1969, having a total of 168 produced examples. The Series II includes a redesigned interior, an increase in power output by 25 hp (19 kW) and 19 ft·lb (26 N·m) of torque, and the removal of a grille across the rear glass panel, of which 575 examples were produced.
The Series III, replacing the Series II in November 1972, is the final iteration of the Espada, a having different five-bolt pattern wheels, a new aluminium centre instrument panel, an optional sunroof, and an hexagonal front grille mesh. Although no improvements were made to engine performance, power steering and air conditioning were made standard, and it could be ordered with a Chrysler automatic transmission.

Trivia[]
- "Espada" is a Spanish word for "sword".
- In Forza Horizon 5, it is listed as a 1973 model year, making it a Series III example, but features some elements of the Series II model, which was common for cars transitioning between production revisions.
