"Lamborghini is never content to leave good enough alone, and just a couple years after the Murciélago was introduced an improved LP640 version hit the streets with more horsepower and a host of other improvements. Of course, the structure of the car is largely the same, a cocktail of composites, high-tensile steel, and aluminum—and so is the drivetrain, a V12 paired with Lamborghini’s excellent AWD system. The chassis is clothed in a mostly carbon fiber body, with a revised front bumper to distinguish it from the previous version. The real story is the extra power provided by a bored and stroked version of the previous engine, now churning out 632 horsepower, shaving a half-second off of the run to 60 mph—impressive when you consider that there were only eight of those half-seconds to begin with. Handling improvements weren’t ignored either, as the new springs and dampers have been enhanced with additional “anti-squat” geometry to quell unfavorable movement under braking and acceleration. Drive the LP640 and you’ll be glad Lamborghini likes to fix what isn’t broken."—forzamotorsport.net[1]
The 2007 Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 is an AWD supercar by Lamborghini featured in Forza Motorsport 2 as part of the March Car Pack, standard in Forza Motorsport 3 and in Forza Motorsport 4 as a Unicorn Car.
Synopsis[]
The 2007 Murciélago LP640 is the facelift variant of the Lamborghini Murciélago. As part of Lamborghini's new nomenclature, the 2007 Murciélago received an alphanumeric name affix, with LP (longitudinal positioned) standing for its engine orientation and 640 standing for its new 640 PS power output, that is 632 hp (471 kW), from its extensively redesigned 6.5 liter V12 engine.
Later Lamborghini models with this name affix add a "-4" or "-2" at the end to represent all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, respectively, with the first instance being the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster.[2]
The Murciélago LP640 was replaced by the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV at the end of the Murciélago's production run. In 2011, the Murciélago successor, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 was unveiled and has been produced since 2012.
