The 1970 Matra-Simca #146 Equipe Matra-Simca MS650 Tour de France - abbreviated as "Matra #146 MS650" - is a rear-wheel drive prototype race car by Matra-Simca.

It appears in Forza Motorsport (2023) as part of the Car Pass since April 17, 2024.

Synopsis[]

The Matra-Simca MS650 was developed by Matra and designed by Bernard Boyer for use in FIA Group 6 category racing series. It is the successor to the Matra-Simca MS630 and ran from 1969 to 1970.[1]

Competing in the World Sportscar Championship since 1966, Matra-Simca built two models for the 1969 season: the coupe MS640 and the open body MS650. After a heavy accident at the first test, the MS640 was deemed unstable and not rebuilt.

Debuting at the 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans, the MS650 finished fourth. At the end of the season, Matra earned fifth place at the championship. In the 1970 season, it raced alongside a new monocoque, the MS660, earning a win at Tour de France before being replaced by the new chassis.

Powered by a Matra MS12 3.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine paired to ZF 5-speed manual gearbox, the MS650 has an output rated at 410 hp (306 kW) and 250 ft·lb (339 N·m) of torque.[2]
