"After 25 years in production, the Miata is still doing things right. So right, in fact, that the driving experience of the latest Miata is nearly identical to the original, and that is a good thing. Sure there is more power – 155 horses vs. 116 in the original Miata – and the new model is a bit heavier, but the intuitive steering, danceable rear end, and impeccable transmission are all still there. It’s no wonder the Mazda Miata is one of the most popular and affordable paths to racing; it’s built for the role. The 2016 Miata combines the best of the modern with what’s made the MX-5 such a reliable favorite for more than two decades - a credit its identity as an instant classic from day one."—Official description[1]
The 2016 Mazda MX-5 - abbreviated as "Mazda MX-5 '16" - is a rear-wheel drive roadster by Mazda.
It appears in Forza Horizon 2 as part of the Mazda MX-5 Car Pack, and as standard in all subsequent main series titles.
Synopsis[]
The ND codenamed MX-5 was introduced in 2015 to replace the NC MX-5. Its chassis formed the basis of the Fiat 124 Spider Abarth.
The ND MX-5 is a two-door roadster powered by either a 1.5L (1,496 cc) SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine with 129 hp (96 kW) and 111 ft·lb (150 N·m) or a 2.0L (1,998 cc) SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine with 155 hp (116 kW) and 148 ft·lb (200 N·m). Both engines are naturally aspirated and use direct injection. The former engine is used for the base model, while the North American versions of the car use the latter engine.
The ND MX-5 has either a six-speed SkyActiv-MT manual gearbox or a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic gearbox, with both delivering power to the rear wheels. The ND has a neutral weight bias of 50%/50%.
