"One of the most affordable ways to get into real-life racing is to prepare a Mazda MX-5 Cup car. Teams such as CJ Wilson Racing have helped drivers with aspirations to hit the track to live their dream of competing on the same courses as the Tudor United SportCar Championship and other professional series. Many drivers graduate from the MX-5 Spec series to launch racing careers. In the MX-5 you have the perfect lightweight and nimble package that anyone can learn to corner properly. You also have a healthy 190 [sic] horsepower up front pushing the rear wheels with top speeds somewhere around 120 mph. In the MX-5 Cup car you have a race-prepared car with adjustable suspension, improved braking, a stiffened chassis, and reliability that lets you focus on reeling in the car ahead of you."—Official description[1]
The 2013 Mazda MX-5 Cup is a pre-tuned variant of the 2013 Mazda MX-5 by Mazda.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of the Bondurant Car Pack, and as standard in Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Motorsport 7.
Synopsis[]
The MX-5 Cup car is the competition car of the Global MX-5 Cup, the professional racing series of the Spec Miata amateur racing series. Since its inauguration in 2006, the Global MX-5 Cup has allowed drivers to compete against an identical field of cars, which are MX-5 production models modified for track use.
Similar to its real life counterpart, the 2013 MX-5 Cup is featured with its own race series within the Forza Driver's Cup mode of Forza Motorsport 7.
As required by homologation rules, the 2013 MX-5 Cup car is based on a stripped-out chassis of a MX-5 production car that was modified with a roll cage and fully adjustable suspension. The MX-5 Cup comes with engine specifications similar to that of the 2013 MX-5 despite having a higher power output in real life.
