The 2005 Mazda Mazdaspeed MX-5 (abbreviated as Mazda MX-5 '05) is a roadster that appears in the Mazda MX-5 Car Pack for Forza Horizon 2 and in all subsequent Forza main titles. It replaces the Mazda Mazdaspeed Roadster from the Xbox 360 Forza series.

The Mazdaspeed MX-5 is a performance model of the second generation MX-5, the NB series. It is the North American follow-up to the Japan-only 2001 Mazdaspeed Roadster but redesigned with a turbocharged engine.

At the time of its debut, the Mazdaspeed was the fastest model ever released of the MX-5.[1] It has also been the only turbocharged production car of the MX-5 series since its discontinuation in 2005.

Description

"When you have something as tried and true as the roadster formula that makes up the Mazda MX-5, it has been worthwhile to tread lightly with updates. However, add a factory-built turbo to the mix, and things can only get better. And it does, the Mazdaspeed MX-5 sprints to 60 mph in under seven seconds and turbo-lag is nearly non-existent. All around, the Mazdaspeed treatment stiffens the ride and accentuates the stability that the Miata has built a reputation for. MX-5 plus turbo equals fun factor multiplied. It’s a formula for success that any car enthusiast can figure out once you get behind the wheel of this pocket-rocket."

Characteristics

The Mazdaspeed MX-5 is powered by a turbocharged variant of the naturally aspirated 1.8 liter engine from standard models. Due to its turbocharger, the engine has a lower redline than any naturally aspirated MX-5 model in the Forza series, but offers more power relative to displacement. With a boost pressure of 8.5 psi (0.58 bar), it outputs 178 hp (133 kW) at 6500 rpm and 166 ft·lb (225 N·m) of torque at 4500 rpm, making it the most powerful MX-5 to appear in the Forza series after the Super20.

The platform of the Mazdaspeed MX-5 is based on a four-wheel independent suspension that was upgraded with Bilstein shock absorbers, thicker anti-roll bars painted in red and is connected to a wider set of tires.[1] Its overall weight is 2529 lb (1147 kg), putting it between the 1994 Miata and 2013 MX-5.
