The 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type-A - abbreviated as "RX-7 Spirit R" or "Mazda RX-7 '02"[1] - is a rear-wheel drive sports car by Mazda.
It appears in Forza Motorsport (2005) and all Xbox 360 Motorsport titles, being featured as a Unicorn Car in both Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4.
It returns in Forza Horizon 4 as part of the Car Pass on October 5, 2018, and appears in all subsequent main series titles.
Synopsis[]
The Spirit R was introduced in 2002 as the final production model of the Mazda RX-7. Limited to 1500 units, the Spirit R was available in three thrim levels, namely Type-A, Type-B and Type-C. The Type-A was the only two-seater model of the three and thus the lightest trim.[2]
As the final send-off for the Mazda RX-7, the Spirit R came with a 280 hp (209 kW) rating along with racing modifications such as an adjustable rear wing, Bilstein shock absorbers, Recaro red bucket seats and forged 17-inch BBS wheels. It is lighter by 31 lb (14 kg) than the 1997 RX-7.
With a power rating of 280 hp (209 kW), it is the most powerful production car with a rotary engine to appear in the Forza series. To offset the increase of power, it is equipped with drilled brake rotors that provide better heat dissipation to increase stopping power.[3]
