"Should the need arise, the McLaren F1 GT is ready to go straight to the track. Should the open road be its home, rest assured anything that comes up in your rear-view mirror will get smaller very fast if need be. Driving a car that was once the "fastest production car in the world" is something to relish."—Official description (Forza Horizon)[1]
The 1997 McLaren F1 GT is a rear-wheel drive supercar by McLaren.
It appears in Forza Motorsport 2 and all subsequent main series titles except Forza Motorsport 5.
It is featured in Forza Horizon 2 as part of the Playground Select Car Pack and as VIP Membership content in Forza Motorsport 6.
Synopsis[]
The F1 GT was the last homologation special version of the McLaren F1 GTR race car, which in turn was based on the McLaren F1 road-going supercar.[2]
The F1 GT retains the 6.1 liter (6,064 cc) naturally aspirated V12 engine from the F1, the BMW S70/2, with identical power and torque specifications. In Xbox One generation titles however, it is featured with 618 hp (461 kW), the correct brake horsepower output, as opposed to the F1, which incorrectly still has the metric 627 hp (468 kW) as brake horsepower output.
Performance[]
The F1 GT has notably quicker acceleration from 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) than the F1, requiring 6.9 seconds which is 0.8 seconds less than the latter. Top speed in Xbox One generation titles is 226 mph (364 km/h), making the F1 GT slower than the F1, which tops out at 241 mph (388 km/h).
In Forza Horizon 4, a fully upgraded F1 GT with a drag tune consisting of Drag Tire Compound, an AWD Drivetrain and a Twin Turbo aspiration can complete a quarter mile drag race in around seven seconds, making it one of the fastest drag cars in the game.[3]
