"Here’s a clue as to how highly Mercedes-AMG thinks of the GT R: when the car made its worldwide public debut, it was none other than multi-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel. Hamilton’s success at the peak of motorsport represents a dominant period in design and racing success for Mercedes, and the GT R has capitalized on the technology of this era, from its wide body and distinctive aesthetics, right down to its upgraded twin-turbo charged 4.0-liter V8. Add it to your garage and you’ll enjoy active aerodynamics and lighter weight, all in a striking package. In other words, if it’s good enough for Lewis…"—forzamotorsport.net[1]
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R is a track-ready supercar that appears in Forza Horizon 3 as part of the Logitech G Car Pack and in Forza Motorsport 7.
Characteristics
The Mercedes-AMG GT R is a high-performance variant of the Mercedes-AMG GT fastback coupé. Unveiled at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 24, 2016, it features a front-mid-mounted M178 twin-turbocharged V8 engine, displacing 4.0L (3,982 cc) and producing 577 hp (430 kW) and 516 ft·lb (700 N·m) of torque.
The GT R displays various cosmetic alterations compared with the regular AMG GT, notably the front grill's vertical slats, a fixed carbon rear wing, new front air intakes, and new front and rear diffusers. Its styling is more similar to that of the GT3 race car.
It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and is claimed to reach a top speed of 198 mph (319 km/h).
