"Since the birth of Formula 1, engineers have been dreaming of bringing the supreme technology to the streets. The two-seater Mercedes-AMG Project ONE will transfer the latest and most efficient Formula 1 hybrid technology almost one to one from the track to the street for the first time. The performance hybrid will produce over 1,000 horsepower at a maximum speed of over 350 km/h. The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE will combine stunning racetrack performance and practical Formula 1 hybrid technology with exemplary efficiency. It is not just a tribute to our success in motorsports, but also a strong statement on our way to the ‘Future of Driving Performance’."—mercedes-amg.com[1]
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG ONE - abbreviated as "M-AMG ONE '21"[2] - is an all-wheel drive hybrid hypercar by Mercedes-AMG.
It appears in Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport (2023).
Synopsis[]
Initially unveiled as the Project One concept car at the 2017 International Motor Show Germany, the Mercedes-AMG ONE is a plug-in hybrid sports car that entered production in August 2022, and is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR.
Sharing many features and technology with modern Formula One cars, the ONE features a carbon fiber body, F1-inspired exhaust tailpipe, aerodynamic design with large front air inlets, air intake on the roof with an aerodynamic fin which extends to the rear, and an F1-themed driver-focused interior, as well as drive mode technologies, such as an extendable rear wing with DRS (Drag Reduction System) and active front diffuser flaps.
Different drive modes include an all-electric "EV", a "Race" mode with hybrid driving with focus on straight line speed, and "Race Plus" and "Strat 2" modes that increase downforce by activating the aerodynamic technologies, opening the fender louvers, lowering the suspension and increasing the electric power. In Forza Horizon 5, the "Race" and "Strat 2" modes are represented as "Highway" and "Track" modes, respectively.
The ONE is powered by a modified Mercedes-Benz PU106B Hybrid 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 566 hp (422 kW) in conjunction with four electric motors - two at the front axle, one couple to the crankshaft, and one coupled to the turbocharger - which contribute 483 hp (360 kW) to a combined power output of 1049 hp (782 kW).
Performance[]
Paired to a 7-speed automated manual transmission, the Mercedes-AMG ONE can reach an electronically-limited top speed of 219 mph (352 km/h), as well as acceleration times of 0 - 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 0 - 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.0 seconds and 0 - 186 mph (299 km/h) in 15.6 seconds.
In November 2022, the ONE has also set a record lap time of 6:35.183 minutes around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with German driver Maro Engel, becoming the fastest road-legal production car around the track. It has also set lap records around tracks such as the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit, Hockenheimring, Red Bull Ring and Monza.[3]
